Sports as Universal Language
Sports is such a powerful concept and activity that world organisations are considering and exploring the link between sports and modern social issues.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is especially studying the value of sports in promoting and cultivating peace through safeguarding ethical, moral, and cultural values; combating over-commercialisation practices, doping, and violence; and reinforcing the actions of those who work in the field of sports. The organisation intends to further develop sports education and sports events within school, out-of-school, and permanent educational systems.
It is UNESCO’s dream to use sports in advancing equality, human dignity, growth, peace, progress, and solidarity.
Truly, sports can be considered one of the universal languages that would cultivate cooperation and collaboration at regional, national, and international levels.
